ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Asincere note of appreciation goes to Dr. David P. Gustafson for his tireless efforts on the Design
Handbook, both for past editions as Vice President of Engineering for CRSI and as Technical
Consultant for this 10th edition. The Handbook would not be what it is today were it not for
Dr. Gustafson’s expertise in reinforced concrete design and construction and his attention to detail.
Also, a note of appreciation to Nicholas Gouwens for his expert assistance in typesetting and
reviewing the Handbook manuscript and to Kurt S. Lepinski for his work in updating the Handbook computer programs.
