STAAD Pro V8i Manual 2014
Formerly, the analysis and design of structures has been a very extensive work that can take you hours, days, or months of calculations the most experienced designer. Such a feat has now been reduced in time, by the help of computer programs specializing in the design and structural analysis.
There are software packages that allow you to perform such work, such as STAAD.Pro, SAP 2000, ETABS, Tricalc, RISA, among others. Being the STAAD.Pro program, one of the most widely used by structural engineers worldwide.
This series of manuals for STAAD.Pro V8i program is aimed at students, professors, professionals such as civil engineers, architects, etc., who are interested in learning how to manipulate this great tool. Even if they have any history or already familiar with the program, this manual will enable them to delve into detail procedures or commands not as well known. It also serves as a complement to the structures related subjects taught in Civil Engineering.
The content of this document is based on and translated from the number four series of the English version of the "Getting Started and Technical Reference of STAAD.Pro" because it had no such detailed Spanish version of the manual. Along with this, excellent information obtained in a course taken by students in the 2010-2014 generation of Civil Engineering of the Technological Institute of Nuevo Laredo, where whose contribution was more attached to the labor application of this software approach was also collected; ie the most common problems that can occur in structural design as a profession and possible solutions thereof.
In the treatment of different instructions that appear throughout the text, we find Anglo technical terminology that immediately after; in some terms, its meaning, others said it is understood. As the software is of English origin, thus allowing a quick understanding of the procedures and / or commands used in the tutorials.
The book was written as a student work Advanced Structural Analysis subject belonging to the seventh semester of the race. It is deeply grateful to the Engineer Hector Adame Eliud Martيnez, for their unconditional to pass on their knowledge, allowing us to look beyond our horizons contribution.
STAAD.Pro is a general purpose program for analysis and design of a wide variety of structures. The three basic activities that can be undertaken to achieve that goal – a) generation of the model b) calculations for verification of analytical results c) result – they are all provided by GUI tools contained in the program. This manual contains some tutorials showing a guide through the steps to create, analyze, process, and generate reports for each example.
The first of these tutorials shows these processes using a simple two-dimensional steel frame website. It is a good starting point for learning the program. If you are not familiar with STAAD.Pro, will greatly benefit through this first tutorial.
For the second tutorial, we have chosen a reinforced concrete structure. We can generate the model, the analysis and design of concrete beams and columns. It contains extensive information on the various facilities available for viewing and verification of results.
The modeling and analysis of a slab is shown in the third tutorial. Slabs and other surface entities such as walls are modeled with plate elements. Large surface entities will be defined using several elements and this sometimes requires a tool called mesh generator. This tutorial demonstrates the simple techniques as well as mesh generation method to generate the finite element model of the slab. It also explains the methods by which one can check the results for the elements of the plate.
Contains practical exercises as a warehouse consists of several frames repeated in an address, a seven-story building, a dome, in the which are summarized in a few steps all seen on the section of tutorials, plus using other commands to create other types of common load presented in a building being used in structural analysis and design as applicable, such as wind loads and loads due to earthquake. In seismic loads, the google earth program is used to obtain geographic coordinates and thus to perform the analysis of seismic spectrum given location and how to apply or generate a building.
